The last electric scooter rental day of the year has been announced in Moscow

The Moscow Department of Transport will end the bike rental and electric scooter rental season tonight, November 14. The metropolitan Department of Transport announced this in its Telegram channel.

According to forecasters, a cold snap is expected in the capital, so the rental season is ending for safety reasons, said Maxim Liksutov, Moscow's deputy mayor for Transport. Scooters and bicycles in the parking lots are available for rent until 22:00. Then they will be blocked. After that, operators will gradually start taking them to service centers for maintenance and preparation for next year.

It is estimated that Muscovites have made more than 75 million trips in kicksharing services this season. In 85% of cases, scooters and bicycles were rented to get to public transport stops, metro, home, university or office, Liksutov said.

Earlier, on November 1, Vitaly Gaevsky, professor of the Department of Automobiles at MADI, Associate Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, said that personal mobility equipment (SIM) needs to increase constructive safety, which can be achieved, among other things, by conducting crash tests.

According to the Russian Interior Ministry's BDD Research Center, 2,959 (-24.1%) accidents involving SIM users were registered in the Russian Federation in the first nine months of 2025. 54 people (+22.7%) died in such incidents, including five children under the age of 16.
