Serious progress has been made in the economic sphere between Russia and Tajikistan. This was stated on November 14 by Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko at a meeting with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe.
"You know how much we value relations between our countries, between our peoples, and in recent years such serious progress has been made in the economic sphere, in the investment sphere, and in the humanitarian sphere," Matvienko said.
The Chairman of the Federation Council thanked Rahmon for Tajikistan's successful chairmanship in the CIS and noted the constructive negotiations between the two countries, during which a solid package of documents was signed. Matvienko also conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Tajik leader. According to her, the Russian leader warmly recalled his state visit to Dushanbe.
Putin arrived in Tajikistan on a state visit on October 8. During the ceremony of exchanging signed documents on October 9, he called the relations between Moscow and Dushanbe friendly and allied. In addition, on October 10, Putin called Tajikistan an important partner for Russia.
