- Maduro called on the people of the United States to unite with Venezuela for the sake of peace in America
The people of the United States must unite with Venezuela to bring peace to the Americas. This was announced on November 13 by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in an interview with CNN during a rally in Caracas.
"It is necessary to unite for the sake of peace. No more endless wars. No more unfair wars. No more Libya. No more Afghanistan," Maduro said.
The Venezuelan leader also appealed to US President Donald Trump with a call for peace, saying in English: "Yes, peace, yes, peace." Maduro warned Washington against being drawn into a new protracted conflict, calling for an end to "endless and unfair wars."
According to the TV channel, the statement was made against the background of the aggravation of relations between the countries after the deployment of US warships in the Caribbean Sea, which Caracas regards as an attempt at regime change.
On October 24, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro appealed to Trump to abandon military action against Caracas. Maduro stressed the need for "peace forever, without any insane war" and said that Washington's actions represent a psychological war against Venezuela.
On October 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Russia continues to support the Venezuelan leadership in protecting national sovereignty and is ready to respond to possible threats. Zakharova also stressed that the two countries will continue to work together "shoulder to shoulder."
