The defense of the victims in the Crocus case demanded repeated examinations
The defense of the victims in the case of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall appealed to the 2nd Western District Military Court with a request for the appointment of repeated and additional forensic medical examinations. This was reported on November 14th.
Lawyer Daniel Gauthier noted that the case file lacks the necessary expertise, and a number of victims with severe injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) were unreasonably recognized as not being harmed.
"In order to objectively establish the nature and degree of harm to health, as well as the causal relationship between injuries and the events of the terrorist attack, a petition has been submitted for repeated and commission examinations with the participation of such specialized specialists as a traumatologist, surgeon, neurologist, psychiatrist and psychotherapist," the lawyer told TASS.
He stressed that this is necessary to protect the rights of victims and ensure a fair trial of the criminal case.
Earlier it was reported that the Second Western District Military Court began considering the case of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall on the merits in August. During the hearing, the accused admitted their guilt, and the defense and the victims had the opportunity to present their evidence and petitions. The participants in the trial noted that the verdict of the accused could be announced before the end of the year, however, the need for additional forensic medical examinations may affect the timing of the case and clarify the nature and extent of the damage caused.
The terrorist attack occurred on March 22, 2024, when armed terrorists in camouflage broke into the concert hall and opened fire, setting the premises on fire. As a result of the tragedy, 149 people were killed, more than 600 were injured in various degrees of severity, and one person is missing.
