Chinese has become the most promising language for Russians
The Chinese language is becoming increasingly popular among Russian residents. This is evidenced by the results of the Avito Services study, which was reviewed by Izvestia on November 14.
A survey conducted among 10,000 people across the country showed that 12% of Russians plan to start learning Chinese in 2026. Another 65% consider it the most promising language in the next five years, along with English.
According to the research, English remains the most popular language in Russia.: 51% of Russians surveyed own it, and among people aged 25-34, this figure reaches 61%. 12% of the respondents speak German, and 4% of the study participants speak French. Another 38% of the respondents speak only their native language.
More than a third of Russians studied foreign languages at school — 36%, and another 22% trust online courses and applications more. They are especially popular among young people aged 18-24, as 33% of respondents chose them.
According to the study, 67% of Russians are confident that knowing at least one foreign language will help them build a successful career, and 29% of the country's residents believe that this will give them an advantage over competitors.
Earlier, on October 3, it was reported that Dmitry Balanchukov, a teacher of Chinese and English from the Belgorod region, was recognized as the teacher of the year at the Classroom Teachers Forum. He noted that he achieved this result thanks to the support of his family, colleagues and students. The award was presented to the teacher by the Minister of Education of Russia Sergey Kravtsov.
