Fraudsters extorted 5.5 billion rubles from the residents of Kuban in a year

Residents of the Krasnodar Territory have transferred over 5.5 billion rubles to scammers over the past year. 13,5 thousand people suffered from calls from intruders, the press service of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

Almost all the victims knew about the scammers, but they still fell for their tricks. Most often, people are intimidated by prison and promised easy earnings.

In connection with what is happening, residents of the region are advised to immediately hang up and block if a call is received from an unknown number, writes KrasnodarMedia news agency.

Earlier it was reported that the number of account blockages may increase by 25% after the Central Bank adds transfers by citizens to their SBP accounts in the list of suspicious transactions. This scheme is often used by scammers — they convince victims to transfer funds "to themselves" to another bank.
