On November 13, the Ukrainian Public television channel reported on the possible evacuation of some residents of Kiev in the event of a complete blackout. According to the source of the publication, such a measure can be taken if there is a prolonged lack of electricity in the capital.

The Kyiv City Hall denied information about such plans. The administration explained that evacuation of the population is provided only in emergency situations — for example, in case of release of radioactive substances, floods, earthquakes, fires or armed conflicts.

"Current plans do not provide for the evacuation of the capital's population in the event of a blackout," the Kyiv City Hall's response is quoted by the Public.

Earlier, on August 31, Verkhovna Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya warned that Ukraine could face a difficult winter and a blackout. Later, on October 10, she recommended that residents of large cities, including Kiev, prepare in advance for power outages and consider the possibility of temporarily moving out of town.
