The psychotherapist called the Russians' mistake in interpreting dreams
The main mistake of Russians in interpreting dreams is an attempt to operate with ready—made schemes and dream books, forgetting about the individual context. Psychotherapist Alya Bogolyubova stated this on Thursday, November 13.
According to the expert, a dream cannot be perceived as a universal code that can simply be deciphered — every detail of a dream is connected with a personal story, memories and feelings.
"The image of snow, like any other symbol, can have dozens of meanings. For one person, it is associated with warmth and peace, for another — with cold and loneliness, for a third — with the beginning of a new life," Bogolyubova said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
The expert noted that the problem lies in the fact that standard interpretations create the illusion of certainty. They replace personal work on themselves with a ready-made scheme, forcing a person to look for an answer outside rather than inside.
She emphasized that one can understand a dream only in dialogue with oneself. The unconscious speaks in code, through metaphors, and any interpretation must begin with a question.: what this image means exactly to you, in your life, in your experience.
On November 13, Sofia Cherkasova, a somnologist, clinical psychologist, member of the Russian Society of Somnologists, Candidate of Medical Sciences, recommended going to bed on time in winter, RT reports.
On November 12, Popular Science magazine wrote that sleep is a mystery. In a dream, a person is not aware of what is happening around him, so there are many myths about this process. However, the idea of what prevents or helps sleep, as well as what happens during sleep, is incorrect.
Earlier, on November 6, Alexander Kalinkin, head of the Center for Sleep Medicine at Lomonosov Moscow State University, warned that regular falling asleep after midnight significantly increases the risks to adult health. 360.ru .
It is noted that the ability to remember dreams does not affect the quality of sleep. Some people claim that a person slept well if he remembered a dream. It is clarified that this intuitively suggests that the presence of this phenomenon means a lot of past phases of REM sleep. However, there is no scientific evidence of a corresponding connection.
Earlier, on September 26, Roman Buzunov, a somnologist, professor, Doctor of Medicine, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, told the Moscow City News agency that the fascination with gadgets and services to improve sleep quality can lead to the development of nervous insomnia.
