The Iranian aerospace division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducted tests of the Shahed-161 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a jet engine. This was reported on November 13 by the Tehran Times newspaper.

"The Shahed 161 was first introduced many years ago, but Iranian scientists and engineers continue to improve this weapon and introduce new innovations," the publication says.

According to the publication, the range of the presented drone is 150 km, while the flight altitude can reach up to eight km. At the same time, the duration of the drone's flight is two hours. The UAV is designed for reconnaissance, monitoring and combat missions.

It is noted that the test was conducted at the exhibition of achievements of the IRGC Aerospace Division, where improved versions of other drones of the Shahed family, including the Shahed 131, Shahed 171, Shahed 191 and Shahed 238, were also presented.

Yesterday, two Ukrainian companies, GC Imperative Ukraine and Ecofera LLC, were sanctioned by the United States for supplying aerospace components to the Iranian aircraft corporation HESA, which manufactures combat drones. It was noted that through them, Iran acquired and supplied aerospace materials to the country, including orientation indicators and magnetometers used in the production of drones. The US Treasury explained the imposition of sanctions by the need to prevent Iran from purchasing components for the development of its nuclear program and military-industrial complex.
