- NRK reported on the concern of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry over the money allocated to Ukraine
Norway has expressed concern about the use of funds allocated to Ukraine amid a large-scale corruption scandal in the country. This was announced on November 13 by the NRK broadcasting company.
"These revelations are serious and show how important the work of anti—corruption agencies in Ukraine is," said Eyvind Vada Petersson, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom.
According to NRK, Norway has allocated 5.5 billion Norwegian kroner (about $547 million) to support the Ukrainian energy sector this year. At the same time, the total amount of aid to Kiev from 2022 to 2025 will amount to 11.7 billion crowns.
Petersson stressed that Oslo has no data on the misuse of allocated funds, but the Norwegian side cannot guarantee their full safety and proper use by Kiev.
On November 12, Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg announced that the country had refused to act as a guarantor of the European Union's (EU) reparation loan to Ukraine from Russia's frozen funds.
Also on November 5, The Times newspaper announced that Norway intends to provide Ukraine with a loan of €100 billion, providing part of its national investment fund. The initiative can be implemented by securing debt from the national sovereign wealth fund in the amount of €1.7 trillion.
