French President Emmanuel Macron has announced an increase in defense spending in outer space in the coming years, highlighting the activation of alleged Russian "espionage" activities in space after the start of a special military operation. This was reported on November 13 by the newspaper Barron's.

"Today's war is already being waged in space, and tomorrow's war will begin in space," he told a news conference in Toulouse, the country's military space command center.

Macron announced the allocation of additional 4.2 billion euros by 2030 to finance the French military space industry. He noted that these funds will be used to contain the nuclear threat in space, allegedly emanating from Moscow. According to him, Russia carried out cyber attacks on the French space infrastructure in 2022.

The day before, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow sees the preparation of the European Union (EU) countries for a possible conflict with the Russian Federation. It was noted that an increase in military budgets in the EU states in the future could lead to serious consequences in the countries of the union due to the overstrain of the economies.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted on October 24 that the regimes of Western and Central European countries are trying to convince the population that it is necessary to prepare for an armed conflict, but this is a cruel deception.
