WhatsApp has started actively offering Russians to add mail to log in to their account.

WhatsApp (owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) began actively offering Russians to add email to their account as a third way to log in and restore their account in the messenger.

"If you ever need to re-register your phone number, you will be able to use your verified email address to log back into your account by following the steps described in the email we will send you," the messenger message says.
