The court approved the arrest of Yankovskaya's stylist in a fraud case
The Moscow City Court has approved the arrest of stylist Elvira Yankovskaya, accused of multimillion-dollar fraud involving luxury goods. This was reported on November 13 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
The court rejected the defense's appeal against the decision of the Gagarin Court, which had previously changed the measure of restraint from recognizance to detention. The reason for the tightening of the measure was violations of her written undertaking not to leave Russia, as well as the skipping of the court session on September 30 by her lawyers.
According to the investigation, for a year and a half, the stylist offered blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) and other clients to purchase branded goods from famous fashion houses at discounted prices. The examination found that Christian Dior, Prada and Negmes bags were counterfeit low-quality products purchased at Sadovod market and in Lublin and Dubrovka shopping malls.
On May 8, 2024, it was reported that Yankovskaya bought fakes of branded items on social networks from people she hardly knew. In November 2023, a confrontation took place between the accused and the witness in the case, Alexandra Lepeshkina, who bought fakes. The witness explained that she had selected the replicas of famous brands for everyone who wanted them. She conducted her activities openly, as it was stated in her social networks.
