Sobyanin announced the launch of the first tram diameter

The first tram diameter T1 was launched in the capital, said Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, calling this a historic day for the development of rail transport.

The 27 km long T1 route will connect the Universitet metro station in the southwest with the Metro City in the east.

"MTD will be a powerful addition to the existing metro infrastructure and will operate according to the standards of the surface street subway, providing fast, comfortable and reliable trips," Sobyanin said in the MAX messenger.

64 stops of the route are located every 300-400 meters, the travel interval will be six minutes. The 50 first trams in Russia, the Lion Cub-Moscow, with autonomous running, will enter the market.

The second tram diameter is planned to be launched in the spring. It will connect the Chertanovskaya metro station with the Novogireevo MCD-4 station.

Moscow tram diameters will actually become skytrain lines. They will pass through the center, connecting the remote areas of the city.
