Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi held telephone talks during which they discussed the actions of France, Britain and Germany against Iran in the structures of the United Nations and the IAEA. This was reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on November 12.

"Lavrov and Araqchi discussed developments in the Middle East, primarily in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement and consideration of this issue in the UN Security Council, as well as the situation in the IAEA Board of Governors, where France, Britain and Germany are trying to launch an anti—Iranian campaign," the publication says.

The Ministers also welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Kabul and Islamabad, reached through the mediation of Qatar and Turkey, and called on the parties to continue dialogue through political and diplomatic means to strengthen regional stability.

During the conversation, Lavrov and Araqchi confirmed their commitment to the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran, which entered into force on October 2.

Earlier, on October 11, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araqchi, said that Tehran, due to the restoration of sanctions against it, finds no reason to resume contacts with the countries of the so-called European trio — Germany, Great Britain and France, devoted to discussions on the Iranian nuclear dossier. According to him, the government sees no reason to renegotiate with them.

Prior to that, on September 27, Lavrov said that Russia considers unacceptable and illegal attempts by the West to restore sanctions against Iran in the UN Security Council. He also stressed that the West "is not used to observing the principle of non-interference" in internal affairs.
