Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kastutis Budris said that Vilnius does not consider it possible to open the border with Belarus yet. His words were broadcast on November 12 by the Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LTR) in its Telegram channel.

"Opening the border is impossible," Budris said.

The diplomat called the order of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on the organization of negotiations with Lithuania on the normalization of the situation on the joint border "misinforming news that misleads everyone."

On November 12, Lukashenko instructed the Belarusian Foreign Ministry to organize negotiations with Lithuania to resolve the situation on the joint border. He turned to Alexander Volfovich, Secretary of State of the Security Council (SB), to ensure the organization of the negotiation process.

At the same time, on November 11, as reported by Reuters, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kastutis Budris rejected Lukashenko's proposal to reopen checkpoints on the border between the countries. According to Budris, Lithuania plans to enlist the support of the United States in resolving the issue of opening the border.

Lithuania has completely closed the border with Belarus for a month since October 29. Thus, the last two checkpoints, Myadininkai and Shalchininkai, were shut down. Exceptions are made only for diplomats, transit traffic to Kaliningrad, as well as citizens of Lithuania and EU countries. Subsequently, there were reports of the closure of the state border with Belarus for an indefinite period.
