Arab countries have opposed the US initiative to renew and expand the Abrahamic Agreements with Israel after the cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. This was reported on November 12 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.

According to the publication, the leaders of the region regard the US actions as an attempt to divert attention from the Palestinian issue and legitimize Israeli policy by force. In addition, the announcement of Kazakhstan's "accession" to the agreements was perceived by many as a symbolic and empty gesture, the newspaper added.

"The creation of a Palestinian state is a prerequisite for regional integration," Saudi Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Manal Radwan said, noting that Washington ignores this principle.

According to experts, the US bet on expanding diplomatic ties with Israel without resolving the fate of Palestine only increases the distrust of Arab countries towards the United States and undermines the prospects for real peace in the Middle East.

On November 7, US President Donald Trump announced that his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had joined the Abraham Agreements. The American leader expressed hope that Saudi Arabia would do the same soon.

At the same time, Reuters wrote that Riyadh would sign the agreement only when the roadmap for the creation of the State of Palestine was adopted.

In 2020, the United States launched a process aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and Arab countries. Then a set of documents was signed — the "Abraham Peace Agreements". They were joined by the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco.
