A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. Units of the North group of forces defeated formations of the mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the air defense brigade in the areas of the settlements of Alekseevka, Vidovka and Yunakovka, Sumy region. In the Kharkiv direction, units of the motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the border guard detachment of the Border Service of Ukraine were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Vysokoe, Proletarka, Sinelnikovo and Volchansk of the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 100 soldiers, 13 vehicles, a radar station and four warehouses of materiel.

"The units of the Zapad group of forces have improved their position along the front line. The manpower and equipment of three mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the air defense brigade and the National Guard brigade were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Petropavlovsk, Kurilovka, Kharkiv region, Svyatogorsk, Koroviy Yar and Dronovka of the Donetsk People's Republic. In the area of Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, assault detachments of the 6th Army continued to destroy the encircled enemy group. In total, enemy losses in the Zapad group of forces' area of responsibility amounted to up to 215 military personnel, two armored combat vehicles and 21 vehicles," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The "southern" group of troops has taken more advantageous positions and frontiers. Formations of the mechanized, motorized infantry brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard brigade were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Seversk, Zvanovka, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and Konstantinovka of the Donetsk People's Republic. The enemy lost up to 75 soldiers, a tank, three armored combat vehicles, including a US-made HMMWV armored vehicle and a Kazak armored vehicle, 18 vehicles and four electronic warfare stations.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated fuel, energy and transport infrastructure facilities used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, unmanned aerial vehicle launch sites, positions of air defense units, temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 149 districts. In turn, air defense systems shot down four HIMARS multiple rocket launchers manufactured in the United States and 133 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost 668 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 96,127 UAVs, 636 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,981 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,611 multiple rocket launchers, 31,253 field artillery and mortars, 46,441 units of special military vehicles.
