In Krasnogorsk, near Moscow, a 10-year-old boy was seriously injured after he tried to lift a bundle of banknotes from the ground, to which an explosive device was attached. What happened
The incident occurred on the evening of November 11 near an apartment building. According to the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC RF), the child noticed a gift package with a ten-ruble bill on the ground and tried to pick it up. At that moment, an explosion occurred, after which the boy fell to the ground with severe arm injuries.
Eyewitnesses said that the package of bills was tied with a red ribbon and looked like a gift. One of the witnesses reported that he helped the paramedics by handing over the child's severed finger. The boy was urgently hospitalized.
A criminal case has been opened
A criminal case has been opened into the incident under the article on attempted murder committed in a generally dangerous manner. Investigators determined that the device was homemade, with a capacity of about 10 grams of TNT. An inspection was carried out at the scene, fragments of the explosive mechanism were seized and sent for examination.
According to the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow region, explosive, molecular genetic and fingerprint examinations have been appointed. Law enforcement officers are looking for persons involved in the installation of an explosive object.
Alexander Bastrykin, Head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, instructed Yaroslav Yakovlev, head of the Moscow region department, to submit an operational report on the progress of the investigation, the circumstances of the incident and the initial results of the criminal investigation.
The execution of the order has been put under control at the central office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The child's condition and the authorities' reaction
According to the Moscow region Ministry of Health, the boy was taken to the L. M. Roshal Children's Research and Clinical Center, where he underwent surgery. His condition is assessed as serious. The children's Ombudsman of the Moscow region, Ksenia Mishonova, reported that doctors had partially amputated the fingers on the victim's right hand.
Mishonova stressed that parents should be especially attentive and explain to children the danger of unknown objects, especially in the current conditions.
"Absolutely nothing should be lifted from the ground. Nothing and never!" she said.
