The share of domestic assembly in the Russian car market has exceeded 50%
Of the 1.06 million passenger cars sold in Russia in the first 10 months of this year, 555 thousand cars were assembled at Russian car factories. The share of such cars in the market reached 52.3%, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said in his Telegram channel on November 12. At the same time, sales of Belarusian Belgee cars account for almost 5% of the market, he said.
In 2024, the share of local assembly in the Russian car market was 41.5%, which was the lowest in the history of the Russian car market, the expert noted.
If in 2008 this share was 44%, then by 2016 the level of Russian assembly exceeded 80%. The maximum value (85.5%) was recorded in 2017, the share remained above the 80% mark until 2022, then it began to decline.
As Tselikov explained, against the background of changes in the recycling fee, many Chinese brands had to localize the assembly in the Russian Federation. Currently, Lada, UAZ, Moskvich, Solaris, Sollers, Haval, Chery, Tenet, Jetour, Kaiyi, BAIC, SWM, Exeed, Voyah, Evolute, Jaecoo, AmberAuto and other brands are produced in the country.
Earlier, on November 11, it was reported that following the results of 10 months, the market share of Chinese automakers in Russia decreased to 54%. Compared to the same period last year, sales of models from China decreased by 27%. At the same time, the overall market for new cars decreased by 19.9% in January –October.
