Employees of the FSB directorate for the Volgograd region prevented an attempt by the government and special services of Germany to conduct an information and propaganda campaign in the region, illegally reburying the remains of soldiers and officers of the Wehrmacht. This was announced on November 11 by the press service of the department.
"Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Volgograd region, in the year of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, prevented an attempt by the government and special services of Germany to conduct an information and propaganda campaign in the region," the message says.
During the operational activities, it was established that representatives of the People's Union of Germany for the Care of War Graves, with the assistance of the German Embassy, illegally exhumed the remains of German soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War on the territory of the Holy Ascension Convent in the Dubovsky district of the Volgograd region.
According to the investigation, a large-scale media event was planned for the reburial at the Rossoshki memorial complex with the participation of Western journalists. The event was supposed to take place on the eve of Victory Day with a broadcast in the international media.
Earlier, on May 1, it was reported about the beginning of the exhumation of the remains of Soviet soldiers on the "Hill of Glory" in Lviv. According to the Ukrainian online publication "Strana.ua", according to the decision of the city council, the soldiers will be reburied at the Goloskovsky cemetery.
