Dentist Urvantseva spoke about the benefits and risks of charcoal toothpastes
Many Russians choose trendy charcoal and colored toothpastes, expecting fast whitening, but their effectiveness and safety remain controversial. About this on November 12, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by Natalia Urvantseva, a medical expert of the Stomatol brand.
According to the expert, terms like "detox" or "natural" are more often used as marketing techniques and have no scientific basis.
"The label on the package "natural" does not guarantee the safety of the composition at all. After all, natural substances can also be abrasive or allergenic," the expert emphasized.
She added that excessive use of bleaching agents can lead to enamel thinning and increased tooth sensitivity. The expert paid special attention to charcoal pastes.: they really help to remove stubborn plaque from smokers and coffee drinkers, but they need to be applied in courses.
For regular care, Urvantseva recommended choosing pastes with fluorides, calcium, and mild abrasives that strengthen enamel and prevent tooth decay.
Earlier, on September 18, dentist Roman Wolberg called haste and irregular brushing the main mistakes leading to problems with the oral cavity. He stressed that the hygienic procedure should take at least three minutes and be performed twice a day, and the use of fluoride paste helps prevent the development of caries.
