A high-alert mode has been declared on the Commander Islands due to the second wave of a powerful cyclone with increased winds. The forces and services of the village of Nikolskoye have been transferred to an enhanced mode of operation. This was announced on November 11 by Vyacheslav Chernysh, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kamchatka Territory.

According to him, the specialists had prepared backup energy sources in advance and worked out an operational response plan. Chernysh noted that the heat and water supply, as well as the uninterrupted operation of the infrastructure, remain in the zone of special control.

"The necessary measures have been taken to ensure energy supply, despite the potential risks associated with strong winds. If necessary, backup power sources will be activated and prompt response measures will be taken," Chernysh is quoted as saying in the Telegram channel of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Local services have been warned about possible line breaks and worsening weather conditions, and the public is advised to limit access to the street.

Earlier, on November 7, it was reported that the level of seismicity in Kamchatka had increased to "extremely high" amid the ongoing series of aftershocks after the earthquake on June 30. During the week, about 30 tangible tremors were recorded, some of which were felt in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
