The expert refuted the "winter" myths about electric cars
Founder and CEO of the Autonomous Energy Systems Company (part of the Itelma Group of Companies) Anton Mukhin dispelled on Tuesday, November 11, some myths about the loss of all the advantages of an electric car in winter.
The expert noted that the design of modern electric vehicles initially provides for their use at low temperatures.
"Yes, in winter, the energy consumption of "green" cars really increases.: This includes the operation of the cabin's climate control system and the battery's thermoregulation system. Almost all modern batteries have a heating function, which automatically ensures optimal battery temperature," he said in an interview with the Auto Mail project.
Mukhin added that it is safe to charge an electric car in winter and even in snowfall, but it is worth considering the reduction in the speed of this process. This should be kept in mind when calculating your trips.
According to the expert, electric cars and hybrid cars behave perfectly on winter roads, and their huge advantage at this time of the year is an easy start even in severe frosts.
"And in order to maximize the power reserve in winter, I recommend storing electric vehicles in the garage or in heated parking lots," he concluded.
Earlier that day, it became known that the electric car of the Russian brand Amberauto, which is produced in the Kaliningrad region by Avtotor, became the best-selling model in the segment of electric cars in October in Russia. In mid-autumn, 358 Amberauto A5 electric sedans were sold in Russia. The model has continued to hold the title of market leader since September.
In October 2025, there was a noticeable increase in demand for electric vehicles in the Russian market, NSN reports.
Experts attribute the revival of the market to two main factors: the expected change in the size of the recycling fee and the high demand for the domestic AmberAuto A5 model, which buyers appreciate for its attractive price.
In turn, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin spoke about plans to significantly expand the network of electric charging stations, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
