Syria has joined the coalition against ISIS (IS, an organization recognized as a terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation), but without direct participation in military operations led by the United States. This was reported on November 11 by the Associated Press (AP), citing Syrian Information Minister Hamza Mustafa.
It is noted that this decision was discussed by Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa during a meeting with US President Donald Trump. Despite this, no written agreement was concluded.
In addition, Syria does not intend to participate in the American Inherent Resolve missions.
"This political coalition is not equivalent to the counter—terrorism army operation Inherent Resolve," the agency quoted Hamza Mustafa as saying.
The day before, al-Sharaa announced cooperation with the United States. It clarifies that the issue of Syria's possible entry into the US coalition against ISIS. At the same time, according to al-Sharaa, during the meeting with US President Donald Trump, prospects for investments aimed at Syria's economic development were discussed.
The meeting between Trump and al-Sharaa took place on November 10 at the White House. Negotiations were necessary to strengthen relations between the two countries.
According to the Syrian Foreign Ministry, during negotiations at the White House, the parties agreed to continue implementing the agreement between the Kurds and the Syrian government, which was signed on March 10 and provides for the inclusion of Kurdish fighters in the armed forces of the republic.
