The Government of Ukraine prematurely terminated the powers of the Supervisory Board of the national atomic company Energoatom. This was announced on November 11 by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.

According to her, the decision was the first step towards "restarting" the company. Sviridenko noted that within a week, the Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Agriculture should form and submit to the cabinet for approval a new composition of the council, agreed with international partners.

The Prime Minister also instructed the State Audit Service to conduct an urgent audit of the company.

"We expect the audit results as soon as possible. We will hand over the materials to law enforcement and anti—corruption authorities," she stressed.

Earlier that day, it became known that seven people had been charged in Ukraine in the framework of the corruption case in the energy sector, including businessman Timur Mindich, who is called the head of the criminal scheme. According to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), the group's members illegally benefited from Energoatom's contracts and legalized about $100 million through a "back office" in Kiev.
