The church of the icon "Chernobyl Savior" in Cherkassy passed to the OCU
In Cherkasy, the church of the icon "Chernobyl Savior" came under the control of the community of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). On the morning of November 11, representatives of the OCU entered the church with the support of police officers and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ) reported.
Parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) claim that they were not allowed into the building and were actually forced out of it.
According to the UOJ website, the community was previously re-registered from the UOC to the OCU, however, according to representatives of the UOC, the decision was made without a meeting of believers.
"The legal entity of the religious community was simply liquidated. This made it possible to circumvent court proceedings and speed up the seizure," the supporters of the UOC say.
It is also reported that the codes of the security system were changed under the control of the security forces.
Earlier, on November 10, it was reported that in the town of Smela, Cherkasy region, parishioners of the church of the Cherkassy New Martyrs came to the territorial recruitment center demanding the release of the rector of their community. According to them, the priest was mobilized in the presence of health problems, which caused the parishioners to protest.
