Vladimir Verteletsky, the former head of the Department of the Russian Ministry of Defense (MO) for ensuring the state defense order, was sentenced to 10 years in a penal colony for accepting bribes and abuse of office. This was reported on November 11 in the Second Western District Military Court.
"To appoint Verteletsky 10 years of imprisonment to serve his sentence in a high—security colony," the TASS news agency quotes the text of the verdict.
Along with this, the former head of the engineering service of the Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) Vladimir Khoroshunov was sentenced to six years in prison in the same criminal case.
The investigation decided to satisfy in full the civil claim of the injured party for a total amount of 778 thousand rubles.
A year earlier, Verteletsky was charged with abuse of office in the execution of the state defense order. According to investigators, in 2022, Verteletsky accepted the outstanding work under a government contract, as a result of which he caused damage to the state in the amount of more than 70 million rubles. At the request of the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for Vereletsky.
