The members of the space crew, who are preparing for a flight to the International Space Station (ISS), told the astronauts about the preparations for the flight, during which scientific experiments will be conducted as part of the program. As test cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov reported on November 11, the training on the Soyuz simulator was the most interesting and difficult.

"This time, the training on the Soyuz simulator was the most interesting, dynamic and difficult, because the flight will be very dynamic and short. The coordinated work of the entire crew is required, and I, as the commander of the ship, needed to keep the focus on the work of the entire crew as a whole, and on the dynamics of the flight," Kud—Sverchkov said.

He noted that preparing for a flight to the ISS is a long and complex process. One of the difficulties is that when astronauts go through the active phase, the intensive phase of training, they need both to have time to gain new knowledge and to train on simulators. Therefore, sometimes training has to be postponed even at home, postponing for non-working hours.

"During our flight to the ISS, which will last eight months, we will continue to perform various scientific experiments, as well as carry out station maintenance. Two spacewalks are planned for the expedition — in the spring and summer of next year," Kud-Sverchkov said.

The American partners will work on their segment of the ISS and perform the same tasks — to engage in science and pilot cargo ships. Test cosmonaut Sergey Mikaev noted that interaction with the US crew takes place during regular training sessions.

"When the crew appointed by NASA arrives in our Star City, we carry out training on military situations in the Russian segment. A similar interaction is taking place in downtown Houston. During the preparation process, we get to know each other better," Mikaev said.

Christopher Lee Williams, an American medical physicist and NASA astronaut, thanked his Russian colleagues for preparing for the flight, noting that space flights would be impossible without a large team.

"We know that we can't go into space without a big team, and we want to say thank you very much," the astronaut said.

The scientific program of the ISS-74 flight provides for about 40 experiments in various fields. On November 6, Kud-Sverchkov announced at a press conference of the main and backup crews of the long-term ISS-74 expedition that one of the newest and most memorable is the experiment with artificial intelligence. All experiments are planned to be carried out on the lower surface of the station.

Earlier, on October 30, the cosmonaut, speaking about the upcoming expedition to the ISS to conduct scientific research on the station, clarified that it would last 241 days. The crew's tasks will include two spacewalks, as well as receiving cargo ships. In the spring, the expedition expects a change of Dragon Crew. The main crew of ISS-74 is represented by Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikaev, as well as NASA astronaut Christopher Williamson.
