The expert named the necessary items for a home "repair kit"
Most people are prepared for an unexpected cold, but not for a sudden faucet failure or a loose skirting board. To avoid unnecessary expenses and waiting for the craftsmen, you can assemble your own "repair kit". Tulebai Sagitov, brand coach at AKFIX-RUS, told Izvestia about this on November 14.
He noted that such a set should include mounting foam, sealant, superglue, universal tape, tape measure, screwdriver with attachments, as well as a hammer and nails. These tools will help to fix minor problems without calling specialists.
"Mounting foam is a universal tool for filling cracks and voids. It is indispensable for the installation of doors and windows, as well as the insulation of rooms. Among the options are winter foam, which works well at temperatures up to -25 degrees, and summer formulations for the warmer months," the expert noted.
Silicone sealant, according to him, is useful for processing seams and joints. In the bathroom, it is better to use sanitary formulations with antifungal additives, and in the kitchen — neutral, resistant to moisture and detergents.
Sagitov also added that superglue is suitable for urgent repairs: modern formulas fix the parts in 10-30 seconds. It is better to choose a gel form for porous surfaces, and a liquid form for smooth surfaces. Universal adhesive tape, he stressed, is suitable for temporary fastening — the double-sided version can withstand a load of up to 7 kg per square meter. It helps with the installation of carpets, holders and decorative elements.
A 3 m long tape measure with a lock and a magnetic end will ensure accurate measurements, and a screwdriver with attachments is useful for furniture assembly and minor repairs. It is worth completing the set with a hammer weighing about 300 g and a set of nails of different types.
The expert advised storing the "repair kit" in a dry place inaccessible to children, monitoring the shelf life of adhesives and sealants, and keeping sharp tools in protective cases.
Oleg Dubrovin, head of the Dyatkovo Design Training department, told Izvestia on September 2 about the care of furniture items, which will preserve their appearance for many years to come. He clarified that it is recommended to wipe varnished surfaces once a day with a dry microfiber cloth, and once a week with a slightly damp cloth or soaked in a special pH—neutral product. In addition, the expert added that it is recommended to vacuum the fabric upholstery twice a week, but only with a soft brush attachment and strictly in the direction of the pile.
