The maximum mileage of a car is considered to be the one when investments in it begin to exceed the residual value of the car or become impractical. This was stated by Yulia Trushkova, director of service at Rolf, who named the average service life of cars depending on their class, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on November 11.

The average resource of a passenger gasoline car is 250-350 thousand km, the specialist said. For passenger cars with a diesel engine, this figure is slightly higher — 350-500 thousand km. For light commercial vehicles, the resource can reach 700 thousand km.

Premium models with high-quality materials can "live" for 500 thousand km with good care, the expert noted. And mass-produced models from the budget segment often require serious investments after 150-200 thousand km of operation.

However, according to the expert, each case is different, and if one car is in excellent condition after 300,000 km, the other after 150,000 km may require large investments.
