Experts have discovered samples of a meteorite that flew over Moscow on October 27. This was announced on November 11 in the Telegram channel of the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (GEOHI RAS).

"Preliminary studies conducted at GEOHI RAS today have shown that the meteorite most likely belongs to ordinary chondrites (stony meteorites) of the LL6 group," the institute said.

Meteorite samples have already been received by the Laboratory of Meteoritics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Museum of the History of the Universe in Dedovsk and the Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg. According to the scientists, research and search work at the site of the fall of the celestial body continues.

On October 27, the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the IKI RAS reported that a space object taken over Moscow could be an asteroid. It was specified that the object's speed reached from 14 to 30 km/s, which is typical for asteroids. At the same time, the flight path presumably passed 350-700 km north of the capital.
