Pushkov called the advice of the ex-president of Finland useless
The advice of former Finnish President Sauli Niinisto about the need for Europe to independently build negotiations with Russia will no longer be able to change the situation. This was announced on November 11 by Senator Alexei Pushkov, commenting on the statements of the Finnish politician.
According to Pushkov, Niinisto is a "smart and experienced politician," but his proposals came too late.
"Europe will not pull itself together anymore — there is no one to take it," the senator wrote in his Telegram channel.
He noted that the European Union is run by the "Brussels bureaucracy" and leaders like Ursula von der Leyen, while the role of European states in world politics continues to decline.
Pushkov stressed that the European elites had miscalculated, hoping to increase their influence through confrontation with Russia. According to him, the rejection of diplomacy in favor of a "policy of pressure and involvement in the conflict in Ukraine" only reduced the importance of the EU on the world stage.
Earlier, on November 10, Sauli Niinisto stated in an interview with Yle that the conflict in Ukraine had led to a further weakening of Europe's influence. He noted that the United States, China and Russia now occupy decisive positions in world politics, and European states often only follow Washington's line instead of conducting an independent dialogue with Moscow.
