Sale of Russian-made marshmallows suspended in Belarus
The sale of Russian-made marshmallows has been suspended in Belarus. This was reported on November 10 by the BelTA news agency with reference to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.
"The Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health has established the facts of handling unsafe food products: Confectum LLC. Thus, the azorubin (E122) dye, undeclared by the manufacturer, was found in the strawberry—flavored marshmallows for school-age children aged 6 and older," the publication says.
It is noted that the use of hidden ingredients in food products can be dangerous to health, especially for children. In this regard, the supply of marshmallows from this manufacturer has been temporarily suspended, and the certificate of state registration has been terminated.
In order to bring the product back to the market, the manufacturer needs to adjust the product release actions.
"The manufacturer must organize corrective measures to ensure their effectiveness, stability of production, storage, and transportation processes, as well as an effective quality control system, including laboratory testing of products, risk assessment of the factors that caused the restrictions, and achieving an acceptable level for them," the agency added.
