US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington may be forced to return more than $2 trillion to trading partners if the duties imposed by his administration are found illegal by the Supreme Court. He wrote about this on November 10 on the Truth Social network.

According to Trump, we are talking about huge amounts of funds received in the form of duties and related investments.

"The actual amount that we would have to pay in the form of revenue from tariffs and investments would exceed $2 trillion, and that in itself would be a disaster for national security," he said.

Trump added that his opponents on the Supreme Court "underestimate the numbers to create the illusion of a simple way out of the situation."

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Trump plans to use unused funds from payments to low- and middle-income citizens to reduce the national debt. According to him, revenue from tariffs imposed by the US administration on a number of countries is supposed to be used for the same purpose.
