A bridge over the Tumannaya River is being built between Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the construction of which is recorded on satellite images. This was reported by Newsweek magazine.

According to the publication, six bridge pillars have been built on the territory of the DPRK, as well as the foundations for two additional ones have been dug. On the Russian side, work has moved 110 m into the riverbed, and supporting supports have been installed.

152 m of bridge structures and six support structures have already been erected from the Korean coast. The workers have also almost completed the construction of the ramp and abutment.

It is noted that a multifunctional port complex with a customs terminal, warehouses and a service station is being created next to the construction site. A special feature of the project will be a specialized parking lot for transshipment of goods between Russian and Korean trucks without drivers crossing the border.

On June 20, it became known that the construction of the first automobile bridge between Russia and the DPRK would be completed in two years. It was noted that the total length of the bridge crossing, including access roads, will be 4.7 km, while the length of the bridge itself will be 1 km, of which 424 m will belong to Russia and 581 m to the DPRK. The width of the structure will be 7 m.

The agreement on the construction of a border road bridge across the Tumannaya River was signed by the government of the Russian Federation and the DPRK during the visit of the Russian delegation to the republic on June 19, 2024. On April 30, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin called the construction of a bridge between Russia and the DPRK across the Tumannaya River a landmark stage for relations between the states.
