The Moscow City Court upheld the posthumous sentence of Mikhail Khachaturian.
The Moscow City Court has upheld the posthumous sentence of Mikhail Khachaturian in the case of violence against his daughters. This was reported on November 10 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
The court of appeal rejected the defense's complaint, which demanded Khachaturian's full rehabilitation.
The lawyers announced their intention to appeal the decision in cassation.
On July 27, 2018, three sisters — Krestina, Angelina and Maria — stabbed their father to death in an apartment on Altufyevsky Highway in Moscow. The reason for the murder was the systematic violence of men against girls. His three daughters were arrested on August 2, 2018 and charged with murder by prior agreement (paragraph "g" of part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code). In mid-June 2019, they were finally charged. However, in March 2021, the Khachaturian sisters were officially recognized as victims in the case of violence and beatings by their father.
After that, in May 2022, the investigation was completed, and the charges against businessman Khachaturian were tightened due to the fact that he distributed pornographic materials involving his daughters. Then, on February 1, 2021, the case against the Khachaturian sisters was returned to the prosecutor's office in order to resolve a number of contradictions in the indictment.
On April 21, 2025, Khachaturian was posthumously found guilty of the crime. At the same time, the criminal case was terminated in connection with the death of the man. In turn, his sister Naira stated that she would appeal the verdict, seeking his posthumous acquittal.
