AvtoVAZ has started testing the new Lada Azimut crossover
AvtoVAZ has put its first Lada crossover to the test. Full-scale tests of the Azimut model are one of the key stages in preparing the model for the start of mass production, scheduled for 2026. This is stated in the message of AVTOVAZ, which was received by Izvestia on November 10. The company's press service shared a video from the tests of the model, the body of which is hidden under camouflage.
For operational adjustment and verification of individual vehicle characteristics, a test track is used on the factory premises. The main set of validations will be carried out at A. Akoev's own testing range in Sosnovka village. Its infrastructure includes dozens of specialized road surfaces and trails, which allows for customization and comprehensive vehicle inspection in conditions as close as possible to real-world operation throughout Russia, the company said.
The Lada Azimut crossover was first introduced in June this year at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The model will be equipped with upgraded engines of its own production with a volume of 1.6 liters and 1.8 liters with a capacity of 120 hp and 132 hp, respectively. One of the main and unusual features of the model was the electric heating of the front side windows.
On October 9, AvtoVAZ announced the start of work on preparing the new Lada Azimut crossover for state certification tests. According to their results, the new model will receive Vehicle Type Approval (OTT), which gives the right to sell the car in the Russian Federation.
