The striker of the Spartak Moscow hockey club, Ivan Morozov, has repented of doping and expressed a desire to return to the sport. This was announced on November 10 by Alexey Morozov, President of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

"Yes, of course [he repents]. He talked about it himself in an interview, admitted a mistake and noted that he wanted to return to hockey," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

The KHL president also expressed the opinion that when a professional career that you have been building for many years is at risk, it makes you rethink some things. He stressed that this situation is a lesson not only for Morozov, but also for all athletes.

Morozov has been playing for Spartak since 2023. Last season, the forward scored 50 (19+31) points in 64 regular season matches and another 12 (5+7) in 12 playoff games, becoming the second scorer of the red and white, adds Sport-Express.

Earlier, on September 16, Morozov was temporarily suspended from matches due to a banned substance found in a doping sample of a hockey player. Later, on October 28, the athlete confessed to using a prohibited substance out of competition. According to the hockey player, traces of cocaine were found in his doping test. On November 1, RUSADA reduced Morozov's suspension to one month.
