The EC announced the absence of deadlines for new sanctions against Russia
The European Commission (EC) cannot give a timeline for the preparation of the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions, but is actively working on it, Anitta Hipper, a representative of the European Union's (EU) foreign policy service, said on November 10.
She noted that the EC members continue to constantly think about how to put even more pressure on the Russian authorities.
"The work on sanctions is confidential, as are the deadlines, but you should know that we are not relaxing our efforts. But at the moment we have no other comments on sanctions—related measures," Hipper said at a briefing in Brussels. The broadcast was conducted on the EC website.
Earlier, on November 8, Tomasz Zdechowski, a member of the European Parliament, told Izvestia that the European Union (EU) wanted to speed up discussions on the 20th package of sanctions. However, it is still unclear whether it will be adopted by the end of 2025. The parliamentarian added that the decision depends on the course of negotiations and the ability of all member states to reach a consensus.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on November 6 that EU countries are likely to continue to invent new restrictions against Russians, exacerbating the current situation with additional elements.
