There were 490 road accidents in Russia over the weekend.
Over the past weekend, 490 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 72 people were killed and 598 injured. 73 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on November 10 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
So, in Chelyabinsk, a 50-year-old passenger car driver in the morning collided with a front loader and another passenger car moving in front of him in the same direction. The culprit of the car accident died.
22 bus accidents were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, however, 18 road users, including two children, required medical assistance. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
As a result of 134 accidents involving pedestrians, 77 people were killed, and another 121 were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 19 young pedestrians under the age of 16, 12 of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 60 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 74 outside their area of operation.
59 accidents involving minors were also registered, 64 young road users were injured in them, including 39 passengers and five motor transport drivers. Five children were killed, all of them were passengers of passenger vehicles driven by adult drivers.
So, in the Novosibirsk region, in the early morning, amid snowfall on 139 km of the federal highway R-255 Siberia (Novosibirsk – Tomsk – Kemerovo – Krasnoyarsk – Irkutsk), a 30-year-old motorist fell asleep at the wheel and drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a truck. As a result of the accident, the driver himself and five of his passengers were killed, including two boys born in 2017 and 2025. The eldest child was in the back seat without using a child restraint and seat belt, the youngest was in his mother's arms. The dead driver and passengers were traveling from Tomsk to Novosibirsk, traveling throughout the night. In addition, tires with different tread patterns were installed on the passenger car (summer tires on the rear axle and winter tires on the front axle).
In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, late in the evening, on the 28 km of the Verkhnyaya Biryusa –Irbul regional highway, a 37-year-old minivan driver drove over the set speed limit in a snowfall into the oncoming lane, where he crashed into a truck, and then drove off the road. The 11-year-old daughter of the culprit of the collision, who was being transported in the back seat with a seat belt, died in an accident. Another passenger of the minivan was sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical care.
In the Sakhalin region, in the early morning, on the 847 km FAD A-393 Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – Okha, an intoxicated 38-year-old woman without a driver's license lost control of an SUV and drove off the road, followed by overturning of the vehicle. Her young passenger, a 15—year-old schoolboy who was in the back seat without using a seat belt, died in a car accident. The drunk female driver herself was hospitalized with injuries.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged road users not to remain indifferent to the problem of drunkenness at the wheel and promptly inform the police about drivers who behave inappropriately on the road, driving drunk. Traffic police officers are ready to take all necessary operational measures to respond to such reports.
Drivers were urged to comply with traffic regulations and be more attentive to their well-being before getting behind the wheel. It is important not to overestimate your strength, not to neglect even the most insignificant signs of impending fatigue. If the tired state occurred directly during a long—distance trip, you should not fight it, but rest until you fully recover - stay overnight at a hotel or just sleep for a few hours in the cabin of a car parked in a safe place, the department recommended.
"We remind motorists that one of the most vulnerable categories among underage road users are child passengers. When traveling with them, avoid risky driving, exceeding the speed limit, sudden changes of lanes, overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
On November 1, it was reported that following the results of the first nine months of 2025, a decrease in road traffic accidents was recorded in the Russian Federation. The number of road accidents decreased by 2.4% (94.9 thousand cases), the number of dead — by 3.4% (10.1 thousand people), injured — by 3% (117.7 thousand people).
