The statement by the representative of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Ismail Radwan, about the readiness to withdraw militants from the Israeli-controlled areas of the Gaza Strip should not be considered as an attempt to de-escalate. This was stated on November 10 by political analyst Dmitry Brije to Izvestia.

"Hamas is an organization that wants to keep power in the Gaza Strip. The readiness to withdraw the militants from Gaza is primarily a well—thought-out tactical step aimed at changing the balance of power in the information and political field. Hamas seeks to show the international community its willingness to compromise, but it does not abandon its principles of speech," the expert said.

The orientalist noted that the Hamas statement can be considered not only as a signal to the mediators — Egypt, Qatar and other countries involved in the settlement, but also as an element of the movement's internal political strategy. He stressed that in this way, Hamas is actually testing Israel's willingness to respond with diplomatic measures rather than military force, but such statements, in his opinion, do not exclude the possibility of continuing hostilities.

The expert admitted that the possible withdrawal of a limited number of Hamas fighters could be an element of regrouping forces and preparing for a new phase of the conflict. Israel, in turn, may take an intermediate position — to reduce activity in certain areas, while maintaining its readiness to resume operations.

"In this situation, not only Arab but also Russian diplomacy can play a special role, which traditionally advocates balance and respect for the sovereignty of the countries parties to the conflict. At the moment, the most likely scenario is a gradual transition to a restrained escalation under the control of intermediaries — Qatar, Egypt and other Arab countries of the Persian Gulf. At the same time, the military potential will be preserved, but the intensity of the strikes will decrease," said Brydje.

On the same day, Radwan announced the readiness of Hamas to withdraw its fighters from the territories of Gaza under Israeli control. In addition, according to the representative, ways are currently being developed to solve the problem of returning the bodies of the dead Israeli hostages.
