- Sergunina spoke about the popularity of the exhibition of the Russian Museum at VDNH
Russian Russian Museum exhibition "The Image of Moscow in Russian Art from the collection of the State Russian Museum", opened in early September in Pavilion No. 1 "Central" at VDNH, was visited by more than 100 thousand people. This was announced by Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.
"The exhibition is popular with both residents and guests of the capital. The number of visitors has already exceeded 100,000," Natalia Sergunina said.
The exhibition includes 115 works from the collection of the Russian Museum. Among them are works by Apollinarius Vasnetsov, Vasily Surikov, Vasily Vereshchagin, Valentin Serov and Ilya Repin, as well as masterpieces of icon painting by masters of the Moscow school created by Andrei Rublev, Daniil Cherny and Simon Ushakov. There are also paintings by the French painter Gerard Delabarte with views of pre-fire Moscow at the end of the XVIII century, as well as portraits of famous citizens of the XX century, including Konstantin Stanislavsky, Svyatoslav Richter and Boris Yakovlev.
"First of all, the number of works by great artists — genuine Russian geniuses - is unique here. This can only be seen in the permanent exhibitions of the largest museums," said Alla Manilov, Director General of the State Russian Museum.
According to Lyudmila Koloyarskaya, a VDNH tour guide, visitors are actively interested in portraits and historical views of Moscow: "We hear a lot of questions about portraits, for example, such as Portrait of Zinaida Yusupova Valentina Serova. People often ask about Gerard Delabarte's paintings of Moscow and about one of the hallmarks of the Central Pavilion, the high relief "Glory to the Standard—Bearer of Peace, to the Soviet people!“ Evgeny Vuchetich".
In two months, about 800 excursions were conducted around the exposition, which were joined by 10,000 residents and guests of the capital. The exhibition will run until February 2026.
