The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) has denied media reports about the alleged invasion of poisonous beetles in Vietnam. The corresponding statement was made on November 10 in an interview with Izvestia by ATOR Vice President for International Tourism Artur Muradyan.

Earlier, the media reported on the alleged activation of poisonous tomcat beetles after typhoon Kalmaegi. It was noted that their reproduction was facilitated by humid, warm conditions. Insects are distinguished by the fact that they secrete the toxin pederin, which causes severe burns, itching and blisters.

According to Muradian, the information disseminated in the media is unreliable, and there is no invasion of poisonous beetles in Vietnam.

Earlier, on October 20, the Icelandic Institute of Natural History (IINH) recorded the first case of mosquitoes on Icelandic soil. It was clarified that in early October of this year, three mosquitoes were found on the island of Kjos — this was the first time such insects were found in Iceland.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
