Dmitriev commented on the resignation of the BBC TV channel management.
On November 10, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, commented on the resignation of the BBC television channel management due to the falsification of the speech of American leader Donald Trump, saying that the new leaders may be better than the old ones.
"And will the next BBC executives be any better? <...> The new leadership may just do a better job of not getting caught up in too obvious distortions of the truth. I hope I'm wrong," says his message in X (ex. Twitter).
Earlier, on November 3, The Telegraph reported that the BBC had falsified the American leader's speech about the Capitol riots in 2021. According to the publication, the TV channel created the impression that Trump was encouraging riots on Capitol Hill.
Later, on November 9, BBC Director General Tim Davey announced his resignation after criticism over editing the US president's speech. According to him, the TV channel is working well, but several mistakes have been made, and he, as CEO, must take full responsibility.
