The Bulgarian MP reported the country's loss of up to €20 billion due to EU sanctions.

Bulgaria suffered losses of up to €20 billion as a result of the European Union's anti-Russian sanctions. This was announced on November 10 by Ivelin Mikhailov, a member of parliament and leader of the Greatness party.

According to the parliamentarian, serious financial losses are associated with problems in nuclear energy, tourism and real estate. He recalled that the country is suffering losses due to the freezing of the Belen NPP project and the need to purchase nuclear fuel from other countries.

"We are also losing billions in tourism. We easily lost 15-20 billion euros of what we could have gotten," Mikhailov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He noted that the tourism sector and the real estate market in Bulgaria were largely dependent on Russian citizens, as well as on the supply of cheap building materials and fertilizers from Russia and Belarus. In his opinion, the current sanctions cause significant damage to the Bulgarian economy and do not bring any benefits to the country.

The Politico newspaper reported on November 7 that the Bulgarian and Romanian authorities are looking for legal solutions to keep oil refineries (refineries) owned by companies from the Russian Federation operating, trying to circumvent sanctions. One of the options being considered is the temporary asset management of Lukoil, the largest Russian oil company, not excluding the possibility of nationalization of refineries in Burgas, Bulgaria, and Ploiesti, Romania.
