Trump appointed lawyer John Cole as US special Envoy to Belarus
Lawyer John Cole was appointed to the post of special envoy of the US President to Belarus. This was announced on November 9 by the head of the White House, Donald Trump.
"I am pleased to announce that John Cole, Esq., known as one of the truly GREAT lawyers of our country, has been appointed special envoy of the United States to Belarus," reads a message posted on his page on the Truth Social network.
Trump clarified that a major victory in the so-called "tobacco business" is connected with the name of the figure appointed by him to this post. At the end of the 20th century, he was able to milk compensation from large tobacco companies in the amount of $386 billion.
On October 14, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Minsk was ready to conclude a big deal with Washington if the interests of the republic were taken into account, on which, in his opinion, the resumption of relations with the United States should be based. On November 4, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury Department officially lifted sanctions against the Belarusian airline Belavia. It was clarified that the US Treasury had issued a temporary license for the operation of three specific aircraft used by Lukashenko or the Slavkali company.
Later, on November 5, Evgeny Minchenko, president of the Minchenko Consulting communications holding, pointed out that the President of Belarus had the opportunity to strengthen his foreign policy position by establishing contacts with the Trump administration.
