Hungary named a condition for holding the US—Russia summit
A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump in Budapest will take place if they reach an agreement on how to end the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on November 9 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto, who attended talks between Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during his visit with Trump at the White House.
"The summit will take place if some kind of agreement is reached that will lead to the end of the conflict," Szijjarto was quoted as saying on the Sunday program of the Kossuth radio station by TASS.
The Foreign Minister added that in his opinion, the President of the United States is determined to continue peacekeeping efforts, but it is not yet known when his meeting with his Russian counterpart will take place.
On November 7, Trump, in response to a question about the possibility of meeting with Putin in Budapest, said that "there is always a chance." In addition, the US president evaded a direct answer to the question of whether Hungary should be "allowed" to buy Russian oil.
