- ByHeart baby food was recalled in 10 states in the United States due to an outbreak of botulism
Organic infant formula manufacturer ByHeart Whole Nutrition is recalling some of its products after an outbreak of botulism in 10 US states resulted in 13 infants being hospitalized. This was reported on November 9 by NBC News.
It is noted that the recall includes two batches of powdered mixture with dates of use "before December 1," 2025.
The FDA has asked parents and guardians who have this mixture to write down identifying information on the bottom of the package and throw it away immediately. The department said it was working with retailers to remove "all potentially affected products" from store shelves.
Cases of botulism have been reported in Arizona, California, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas and Washington.
NBC News on November 3, citing a report from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), reported that six people died and another 25 were hospitalized as a result of an outbreak of listeriosis recorded in the United States (an infectious disease transmitted through food, contact with infected animals and humans, as well as airborne droplets), caused, according to preliminary data, by ready-to-eat pasta products.
