An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded off the east coast of Japan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported on November 9.
It is specified that the seismic event occurred at a distance of 195 km from the city of Morioka, which has a population of 295 thousand people. The earthquake was centered at a depth of 19 km.
Earlier, on November 3, an earthquake was reported off the coast of northern Chile. The epicenter of the tremors was located 114 km southwest of the city of Kopyapo, which has a population of about 129 thousand people. The depth of the earthquake is estimated at 25 km.
